Ellen Kogut is a violinist and teacher based in Montreal, Quebec, where she runs Suzuki Montreal, a private studio offering violin lessons, group classes, chamber music coaching, and more. 

Ms. Kogut earned a D.Mus. from l'Universite de Montreal in 2023, where she was a recipient of the Marcel-Saucier Award. She holds Master's degrees both in Suzuki Pedagogy from Ithaca College, where she served as a teaching assistant to undergraduate students, and in Violin Performance from McGill University, where she was a recipient of the Graduate Excellence Award. During her time in Ithaca, N.Y., she also taught violin to undergraduate students at Cornell University as a sabbatical replacement for Prof. Joseph Lin.

Ms. Kogut has served on the board of the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA), including a term as Chair, and is an honorary lifetime member of the organization. She has taught Suzuki masterclasses and workshops in Canada and the U.S., as well as in Germany and Poland. She completed Suzuki teacher training in Books 1-10 as well as supplemental repertoire with the SAA, and regularly pursues ongoing training, allowing her to pass on new and ever-evolving information her students.

Outside of music, Ms. Kogut enjoys visiting art museums, paddle boarding, and traveling to Brazil with her husband.
